Our Core Services
Meet Our Founder
Michele Burkhart, MSN, RN, LNC

Nursing has never been just a career for me—it has been a calling.
For more than 17 years, I have dedicated my professional life to caring for patients, leading healthcare teams, improving quality outcomes, and navigating the complex regulatory environment that healthcare providers face every day. My experience spans direct patient care, nursing leadership, quality improvement, risk management, regulatory compliance, and nursing education, giving me a unique perspective on how healthcare systems operate and where breakdowns in care can occur.
The majority of my career has been spent serving older adults in long-term care and skilled nursing settings, an area of healthcare that demands clinical expertise, critical thinking, and a deep understanding of federal and state regulations. Throughout my leadership roles, I have worked closely with interdisciplinary teams, families, providers, surveyors, and healthcare organizations to improve care delivery while maintaining compliance with ever-changing regulatory standards.
I hold a Master of Science in Nursing Informatics and have a passion for translating complex healthcare information into clear, understandable insights. In addition to my clinical and leadership experience, I serve as a nursing educator, helping prepare the next generation of nurses and reinforcing my commitment to evidence-based practice, accuracy, and professional excellence.
As a Legal Nurse Consultant, I combine years of clinical experience with a meticulous attention to detail to help attorneys understand the medical aspects of their cases. Whether reviewing records, identifying deviations from standards of care, analyzing timelines, or providing case support, my goal is to deliver objective, thorough, and reliable clinical insight that helps legal teams make informed decisions.
I founded InsightRN Consulting because I believe that every case deserves an accurate understanding of the healthcare story behind it. Medical records contain facts, but clinical expertise provides context. My role is to bridge that gap—transforming complex healthcare information into meaningful, actionable knowledge.
When I’m not working in healthcare, teaching future nurses, or consulting on cases, you’ll likely find me spending time with my family, exploring the outdoors, or enjoying Jeep life in rural Missouri. The values that guide my personal life—integrity, accountability, hard work, and compassion—are the same values I bring to every professional relationship and every case I review.
